Blood on the Chopping Block

Tuesday 21 June 2011

by: William Rivers Pitt, Truthout | Op-Ed
Is a fine article about recent events in national politics. I was upset with the silly comments so I made my own silly comment:
Look deeper to find the ROOT problems. We live in an oligarchy where the rich rule because we have an election system suffused with legalized bribery. The rich CEOs and bankers took for themselves all the improved profits for the last thirty years. As Larry Lessig says so well, we need to Fix Congress First.

Then we need to fix a whole bunch of things. End prohibition. Establish Medicare for all. Stop all the wars including the War on Terror, the War on Drugs, and even the War on Cancer. Instead, get smart about energy, wealth, movement of capital, and gambling by those too big to fail.

We won food production efficiency with the Farm Bureau. We won World War II with efficiency of design and manufacturing. We can win our true and compassionate American Dream by relentlessly getting smart and efficient in all our government services and functions. The other wins were not easy and this one won't be either.

We are blessed that the Repugnant Party won control of the House of Representatives and many state governorships and got so cocky that they showed their true colors so clearly that they have stirred up the voters already. I just hope the Repugnants stick to their guns so we can toss the bums out of office and actually deploy the progressive rhetoric that our president displayed before he was elected with Wall Street and health insurance funding and gave them so much control.
